Early Childhood Neighborhood (ECN) Parent Handbook
|
At First Christian Church, we think young children are among our most important neighbors. That's why we have
created a place here to welcome and support them as they grow. From the very beginning, we believed that such
a place should be like the neighborhood that many of us remember. That means we want to be a place where
people know your name, but more than that, they know you; a place where you have friends both young and old; a
place to cherish old friends and make new ones.
We have two weekday programs for young children: a preschool and a mother’s day out. These are designed to
meet the different needs of families, but they all work to build up a child’s sense of worth and wonder. They also
help a child learn about relationships with other children and adults.
The Early Childhood Neighborhood (ECN) is a part of our church’s ministry, not something we let someone else
do in our building. We don’t do this as a means to recruit people to our church, nor is it a way to “cookie cut” the
children in our mold. We believe children need affirmation and love just as they are, and we wanted to create a
neighborhood for them where they could experience those things as they grow.
We are honored that you would allow your child to live in our neighborhood for a time, and we want to offer your
family all that a good neighborhood can offer. We are proud of our staff and our membership, and we hope you
will come to know that you can rely on each one of us. And that includes me! Please feel free to contact any of us
if we can be of service to you.
